We recently built a website for Homeland Roofing LLC, a Jefferson City, MO. roofing company. The web address is located at homelandroofingllc.com. We’ll also be managing their Twitter & Facebook pages plus running a search engine optimization plan. The site is Hosted by godaddy, and the WordPress application is in the root.

We recently designed a website for Brad Racino, an Investigative Journalist currently residing in California but was working in CoMO at the time. Content is king and Brad has a lot of text but he’s also a photographer and produces videos so we needed to display these assets on his website too. The site, found at Brad Racino photography, has a landing page of HTML & JQuery supplemented by a WordPress CMS. Highlighting Brad’s writing was made relatively easy with a WordPress.

This is from his about page: “Brad is a second year graduate student at the University of Missouri studying investigative reporting and photojournalism. His previous work experiences revolved around photo/video work and production in New York and the Bahamas.

His recent journalism work as a fellow for News21 involved investigating the Food and Drug Administration’s import operations in Los Angeles and the state of food safety in America.

We built, optimized and manage a website for Custom Builders of the Ozarks, A Camdenton MO. home improvement company. The front page is simple HTML5 markup and it links to a WordPress CMS. We optimized(or SEO‘d) the site so that it would have a good chance of being on page 1 of Google search pages.

We optimized the code of the website, built a small social network including Twitter and Facebook and also advertise on sites like craigslist, Hotfrog and Manta.

Our method seems to work very well since they are currently the first return, under the ads, for the keyword phrase “Lake of the Ozarks home remodeling”. They’re also on page one of phrases like, Lake of the Ozarks deck construction, Lake of the Ozarks home builder and home remodeling Mid-Missouri… among many others.

We recently built a web for small business owner Amber Rosenbaugh, a Lake of the Ozarks area English Bulldog breeder. Check out her web Top Notch Bullies, and tell us what you think, it’s a simple HTML landing page entering into a WordPress CMS. It’s doing very well via search, especially in the ‘Lake of the Ozarks’ and ‘Mid Missouri’ areas.

If affordability is a major concern, there are a few things every business owner can do before starting construction of a new website. A little planning can go a long way. Actually, these things should be done regardless of your web marketing budget. Creating a site map(like a flow chart), organizing resources and writing basic content saves your web designer time, thus saving money.

Things like choosing a web host, social networks and other business apps are things you may want to decide with your designer. Questions you might want to ask are; Is there free software that will work for me? What are the best social applications for my business? And, what kind of hosting plan does my site need?

Do you already have social network locations on Twitter and Facebook, image share accounts on Flickr or Twitpic, or other online advertisement profiles on websites like Manta, Hotfrog or LinkedIn? Putting a link to each location along with the log-in information in a .txt file falls under organizing resources.

As for the website itself, decide how many top level pages you need on your web and write some content for each page. Contact, About us, Home, Services, Products, Resume, Directions… would all be possible examples of the top level pages of a brick and mortar business. The more text you can give your designer to work with, the better.

If you already have a logo and other digital art put it all in 1 file. Even if the logos need to be re-done, any direction will save your designer time. Designing new art from scratch can be time consuming so anything you already have will help. Images of your location, products or community outreach(youth sport support, etc) can be useful in design as well.

Do you need an online store? Do you need a contact form, video gallery or image gallery? Your designer will need image files, contact info, links to videos… All these things may add to the total cost. There are free and subscription e-commerce platforms but normally the free versions do have limitations. As for images and videos, WordPress has a ton of great plug-ins. Try searching for Slickr Flickr, Analyticator & Share & Follow.
